DYNAHIC RANGE
Use 1o select the amount of dynamic range compression to
be applied to your speakers or headphones when using
NIGHT (see page 33). This setting is effective only when
the unit is decoding Dolby Digital and DTS signals.

Press < / > to set TEST TONE to ON, and
adjust the volume with VOL 4+ so you can
hear the tone.
Do not turn up the volume loo high. If no lest lone is
heard, turn down the volume, set this unit in the
standby mode and make sure all the necessary
connections are correct.
• The tone generator produces a narrow-band noise
cenlered on a specified frequency by the band pass
filler besides a wide-band noise.

to go to "OUTPUT"
and press < / > to
select the speaker
you want to compare
with
the subwoofer.
Choices:

L/R, FRONT
L, CENTER,

* SB will be displayed if you selected only one surround
back speaker in SURR B [JR SP (p_ge 49).

and press < / > to
select the frequency you want to use.
Choices: 35 to 250 (Hz), Initial: 88 Hz

Adjust
the volume
of the subwoofer
with the
controls
on the subwoofer
so it matches
that
of the speaker
you are comparing
it to.
You can use the test tone not only l_r adjusting the subwoof_r
level, but also fbr checking the low-frequency characleristics
of
your listening room. Low-fiequency
sounds are especially
affected by the listener's position, speaker placement, subwoofer
polarity and other conditions.
