4. Grasp the sides of the drive and drive carrier assembly and slide it forward such that the front
part of the drive comes through the opening in the chassis. Make sure that the thumbscrew at
the rear of the drive carrier assembly aligns with the hole in the surface of the chassis.
5. Tighten the thumbscrew at the rear of the drive carrier assembly.
6. Connect the drive's data and power cables.
7. Install the top cover as described in "Removing and Replacing the HP Server's Main Cover."

Connecting External SCSI Devices

The second SCSI channel B is connected directly to the external VHD (Very High Density) 68-pin SCSI
connector on the rear panel. All external SCSI devices are connected to the HP Server using this external
connector, but the external SCSI devices must provide the necessary termination at the end of the SCSI
chain. If no external devices are connected, then no termination is required. The internal SCSI controller
terminates channel B electrically, if no external devices are sensed at the connector. Please consult the
