Before you install an RPM in the C9010 chassis, review these guidelines:
Although the C9010 switch can operate with one RPM, Dell Networking recommends that you use
two RPMs.
One RPM provides 48 Gigabits of bandwidth to each linecard.
Two RPMs provide 96 Gigabits of bandwidth to each linecard.
If the C9010 operates with only one RPM, you must install the RPM in RPM slot 0. Refer to
Hardware Description
To control airflow for adequate system cooling, personal safety, and EMI containment during
operation, install blanks in any empty RPM slots. Install operational modules or blanks in all RPM slots.
Always replace cards and blank panels immediately.
The blank panels for RPMs and linecards are different sizes (RPM blanks are smaller); be sure you
install blank panels in the correct slots.
RPMs are hot-swappable. The C9010 supports high availability.
If your system uses two RPMs, both RPMs must have the same software image.
