tion to individual devices
7KN POWERCENTER 3000 only communicates with known device types and known versions, i.e. only with versions

x.y, where x and y must be known in the 7KN Powercenter 3000. If the 7KN Powercenter 3000 has been in use for a
long time, a newly added device might have a newer and therefore unknown version.
7.3

Firmware update

In modern digitalization solutions, the "knowledge" is in the software; in the case of the 7KN
Powercenter 3000, it is actually in the firmware. The firmware therefore not only contains the
program of the 7KN Powercenter 3000, but also "knowledge" about the features of the
connectable devices.
For this reason, a firmware update of the 7KN Powercenter 3000 is useful for extended use,
e.g. in further devices.
Note
For the 7KN Powercenter 3000, signed firmware is used for security reasons. It is therefore
not possible to load corrupt or manipulated firmware onto the device.
Nor is it possible to load earlier firmware with possible security vulnerabilities into the device,
i.e. it cannot be downgraded.
If the firmware update does not work for some reason, the device remains at the current
firmware version.

Possible measures
Activate Modbus Gateway on the external interface,

see Web user interface → Settings.
Only one Modbus TCP Gateway must ever be activated.
Check the device connection status in the overview of

the Web user interface
→ if necessary, rectify communication faults on the inter-
nal communication interfaces.
Check the firewall settings

Check the setup of powerconfig
•
→ If necessary, update and reload.

Restart 7KN Powercenter 3000. See chapter Switching

Version check could have failed
