Chapter 6 System Operation
This chapter describes the setting and operation procedures necessary for system
operation.

6.1 Preparations and Procedures for Start

Mainly the items concerning the instructions that must be given by the host (S controller,
for example) to a system that uses AN712 modules are described.
6.1.1

Switch setting

Set the switches on the front panel of the AN712 module as follows: For a description of
the individual items concerning these switches, refer to Chapter 3.
(1) Station switches (STN)
ADMAP-5M station addresses are of a 48-bit structure which complies with the
IEEE802.4. Set the upper 8 bits of a 48-bit address with the STN switches on the AN712
module, and a fixed value in the remaining 40 bits. (Figure 6-1)
(2) Operation mode setting switch (STC) function disable switches (SI, MI, CI)
Keep all the switches SI, MI, and CI of STC that disable the AN712 module functions in
the OFF position during routine operation except in cases where it may be necessary to
set them to the ON position in a system test, for example, for error check.
Note: If the SI, MI, and CI switches are set to the ON position during operation after
system start, the functions stop. Be sure to keep them in the OFF position for rou-
tine operation.
(3) Operation mode setting switches and their start modes (S1, S2, S3)
Set a start mode for the AN712 module with S1, S2, and S. When all the switches S1, S2,
and S3 are set to the OFF position in using a TOSDIC-CIE or TOSDIC-AD system, host
start mode is selected.
