General steps for installing Macintosh software

This chapter describes installing printer driver software and setting up
printing on a Macintosh computer. Instructions for setting up additional
software provided on the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM are included at
the end of this chapter.
Serial port printing (LocalTalk) from Macintosh computers is not supported
by the KX-P8420 Color Printer. For instructions on how to connect your
printer to a network, see
The general steps for installing the KX-P8420 software from the CD and
setting up printing on a Macintosh computer are:

Enable Ethernet and AppleTalk from the printer's front panel

Enable AppleTalk in the Chooser on the Macintosh
•
Install the Adobe PostScript printer driver
•
Setup the KX-P8420 in the Chooser
•
Copy font files from the KX-P8420 Driver & Utility CD-ROM as needed
NOTE:
•
Initial Printer Setup, specifically, setting the printer's IP address and
subnet mask, as well as its gateway (if they are used), must be performed
from the printer's front panel. Additional options may be specified using
the front panel or Fiery WebSetup.
