Installing the Steering
Wheel
Models 31900, 31901, and 31907
Only
Parts needed for this procedure:
1 Steering wheel
1 Cover
Procedure
1. Remove the steering wheel from the shipping
skid (Figure 14).

2. Nylock nut
3. Washer
2. Remove the nylock nut and washer from the
steering shaft.

Note:
Ensure that the foam collar remains on
the steering shaft
3. Slide the steering wheel and washer onto the
steering shaft
4. Use the nylock nut to secure the steering wheel
to the shaft. Tighten the nylock nut to 27 to 35
N∙m (20 to 26 ft-lb).
5. Mount the cover to the steering wheel

Parts needed for this procedure:
1 Sound decal (Part 144-0512)
Procedure
For Models 31907 and 31909, install the sound decal
(Part 144-0512) near the model year decal as shown
in Figure 15.
Ensure that the surface is clean and dry.
