3. Partially remove screw
heat sink off the system board.
Notes:
• Carefully remove the two screws from the system board to avoid any possible damage to the system
board. The two screws cannot be removed from the heat sink.
• Do not touch the thermal grease while handling the heat sink.

4. Position the new heat sink on the system board so that the two screws align with the corresponding
mounting studs on the system board. Ensure that the notched edge of the heat sink faces toward
the system fan.
5. Partially tighten screw
the screws.

To replace the heat sink, do the following:
1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,
disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 112.
