Inlet Unit

In the inlet unit, the registration rollers feed paper received from the buffer path unit to the folding position. When Z-fold is specified,
the registration rollers stop the paper so that it forms a loop to correct paper skew.
The registration roller (upper) is turned by driving the registration motor (M1) forward. The paper condition is detected by the pre-
registration sensor (PS1).
In the through-feed mode, the registration motor (M1) rotates backward to turn the cam, making the cam holder lower and thereby
disengage the registration roller (lower). The holder home position is detected by the registration disengagement HP sensor
(PS5).
The registration rollers are disengaged in the following conditions:
• In the through-feed mode
• Paper length: over 190 mm, paper stock weight: 106g/m
• Operation timing
Start: The rollers disengage before paper is received from the buffer path unit.
Finish: After the trailing edge of the current paper passes through the registration rollers, they disengage or nip the next
paper, depending on the mode.
