..... When this key is de-
pressed, the reception frequencies are
swept continuously down the scale un-

broadcasting is reached. The sweeping
then stops automatically. The changes
in the frequencies are as follows:
For U.S.A and Canada

Set the FM
TUNING
switch @) to the
depressed position ().
UP ....... Each time this key is depressed,
the reception frequency is raised in 100
(50) kHz steps for FM and 10 (9) kHz
steps for AM.
If the key is depressed
for more than 0.5 second, the frequen-
cy will change continuously in 100 (50)
kHz steps for FM and 10 (9) kHz steps
for AM. It will stop when you remove
your finger. The changes in the fre-
quencies are as follows:

NOTE:
The sweeping operations may not stop auto-
automatically with automatic tuning even when
weak signal strength stations are being receiv-
ed.
In cases
like this, set the FM
TUNING
switch @) to the depressed position (2) and
tune in the desired station manually.
@) SIGNAL STRENGTH
(FREQUENCY)
meter
¢
Signal strength meter:
The meter func-
tions to show the signal strength at all
times
except
during
|FCCS|]
operation,
and when a station is tuned in, the LED
pointer deflects. The signal strength is in
proportion to the angle of the deflection.
e
Frequency meter: The meter functions as
a frequency
meter automatically
during
FCCS|
operation. The
operation
is indicated.
Frequency display
When the POWER/STAND-BY ucly: switch
@is set to ON/" | '' (4) the frequency will
be displayed.
@) RF high selectivity indicator
This
lights when
the
RF
high selectivity
mode,
which
reduces
the amount
of in-
terference
generated
in the
RF stage,
is
selected by the
function.
(2 IF high selectivity indicator
This
lights when
the
IF high selectivity
mode,
which
reduces
the amount
of in-
terference
from
neighboring
stations
generated in the IF stage, is selected by the
trace] function.
3 FM STEREO indicator
This indicator comes on when an FM stereo
broadcast
is being
received.
It does
not
come
on, however,
when
the FM
MODE
(MUTE) switch @) is set to the depressed
position (41), and the broadcast is received
in mono even if it is transmitted in stereo.
