REMOVING THE ACCESS COVER

The following subsections describe how to remove the access cover from the desktop or
minitower system.
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Disconnect the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and any other external options (such as
a printer) from the rear of the computer.
Label all cables to make reinstallation easier.
3. If the system is a minitower, lay the system down on its right side.
4. Loosen the thumb screw at the rear of the system by turning it counterclockwise.
If you installed a lock on the back of the system, unlock the lock and remove it.
Press the right release tab. While pressing the tab, push down and back on the
right rear of the cover. The cover slides back about 1/2 inch.
Press the left release tab. While pressing the tab, push down and back on the left
rear of the cover. The cover slides back about 1/2 inch.
WARNING: Before removing the access cover,
turn off the power and unplug the system power
cable. Power is removed only when the power
cable is unplugged.
CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge can damage
computer components. Discharge static
electricity by touching a metal object before you
remove the system access cover.
