Preparing the Hard Disk Drive
The NEC Versa Docking Station 6000 has built-in IDE and SCSI control-
lers. However, some hard disk drives require that you install a controller
board. Before installing a drive that requires a controller board, install the
board as described in "Expansion Boards."

Specifying Master and Slave Drives

IDE drives must be set correctly as the first (master) or second (slave) drive.
Check the jumper settings on the drive before beginning the installation
procedure.
Only one drive can be identified as the master drive. If you plan to use the
NEC Versa IDE drive when docked, set the docking station IDE drive to the
slave setting.
