Broadband Modem Only
This. section. applies. only. in. the. instance. that. the. broadband. connection. is. used.
exclusively. with. the. DVC-1000. VideoPhone. and. there. are. no. PCs. or. other. devices.
connected. to. the. broadband. modem.. Broadband. cable. modems. allow. this. type. of.
installation.
Recommended.Procedure: Many ISPs act as DHCP servers and dynamically assign a
public.IP.address.whenever.the.modem.requests.one..If.your.ISP.has.a.DHCP.server,.
select.the.checkbox.under.the.Network.Settings..By.choosing.this.option,.you.are.not.
required.to.know.the.IP.address,.gateway,.subnet.mask,.or.DNS.numbers..They.will.
all be filled in automatically.
If. your. ISP. offers. Fixed. IP. addresses. (also. called. Static. IPs),. all. of. the. networking.
values.will.have.to.be.manually.entered..Simply.enter.the.public.IP.address,.subnet.
mask,.gateway,.and.DNS.numbers.given.to.you.by.the.ISP.into.the.appropriate.network.
settings fields.
If.you.have.a.DSL.modem,.which.offers.a.PPPoE.connection,.choose.the.PPPoE.option.
on.the.network.settings.screen..Fill.in.your.username.and.password.to.authenticate.
Potential.Issues:.In.order.for.the.DVC-1000.VideoPhone.to.function.properly.over.the.
Internet,.there.must.exist.a.public.IP.address.for.the.world.to.see..If.your.ISP.is.acting.as.
a.NAT.and.assigning.private.IP.addresses,.you.will.have.to.request.a.public.IP.address.
