Problem
White residue is visible
on cutlery and crockery,
clouding occurs on
glassware; film can be
wiped off
Smearing appears on
glassware and cutlery,
there is a bluish sheen
on the surface of glass-
ware; film can be wiped
off
Glassware is dull and
discoloured; film can-
not be wiped off
Plastic items are discol-
oured
Possible cause
The salt reservoir cap
was not correctly
screwed on.
The level at which the
water softener is
programmed is too low.
Phosphate-free detergent
was used.
The rinse aid dosage is
set too high.
The water hardness
selector in the wash
cabinet is incorrectly set.
Glassware is not
dishwasherproof. The
surfaces are affected.
Natural dyes e. g. from
carrots, tomatoes or
ketchup may be the
cause. The amount of
detergent used or its
bleaching effect was not
sufficient to deal with
natural dyes.

Remedy
Replace it making sure it
screws back on correctly.
Adjust to a higher setting,
