2. CONFIGURING BASIC SETTINGS AFTER OS SETUP

2.1.4 Setting up the network environment

In the local area network settings, DHCP is used (that is, "Obtain an IP address
automatically" is selected) by default. If you do not use DHCP and want to specify an IP
address, follow the procedure below:
Note that the following procedure is for the case that Internet Protocol Version 4
(TCP/IPv4) is used. If you use Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), select Internet
Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) at step 8.
1. If you are not logged on to the computer as an administrator, log on to the computer as
an administrator.
2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
3. Click View network status and tasks under Network and Internet.
4. The Network and Sharing Center window is displayed. Click Change adapter
settings in the left pane.
5. The Network Connections window is displayed.
6. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon.
7. If you see the User Account Control window, click Yes.
NOTE
If there are multiple Local Area Connection icons, use the following procedure to
identify which Ethernet adapter a specific icon pertains to.
・Right-click the Local Area Connection icon to show a pop-up menu. Click
Properties.
・Click Configure. In the window that appears, click the Link Speed tab.
・Click Identify Adapter. In the Identify Adapter window, click Start.
・Then the LED on the Ethernet adapter corresponding to the selected Local Area
Connection icon flashes.
