4. PRECAUTION

4.5 Precautions about Security Enhancements

(1) Allowing passing through Windows Firewall
Windows Firewall is enabled by default. This may sometimes prevent a program from
working because the network connections from the program are blocked. If this situation
happens, you can select form the following three options to allow those network
connections to pass through Windows Firewall:
(a) Disabling Windows Firewall.
(b) Registering the program as an exception.
(c) Registering a port used by the program as an exception.
The setup procedure of each option is described below. (The screen images shown are the
ones for Windows® 7 but are basically the same for Windows Server® 2008 R2.)
(a) Disabling Windows Firewall.
To disable Windows Firewall, follow the procedure below. After this procedure, network
connections from all programs are not blocked anymore.
1. If you are not logged on to the computer as an administrator, log on to the computer as
an administrator.
2. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
3. The Control Panel window is displayed. Click System and Security.
4. The System and Security window is displayed.
・Click Windows Firewall.
5. The Windows Firewall window is displayed.
・Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
6. The Customize Settings window is displayed.
・Select Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended).
・Click OK.
7. Close the Windows Firewall window.
