Beta Controller - Sea Spec Engines
The BETA CONTROLLER is only offered as an option with
our 70 Amp or 100 Amp Iskra alternators. These uprated
alternators also include a polyvee drive (with a 6 groove flat
belt and pulleys designed for the increased power loading).
These alternators develop the following outputs:
a) 70 Amp Iskra alternator develops: 35 Amps at 'tick over'
increasing to 70 Amps at 2,700 rev/min.
b) 100 Amp Iskra alternator develops: 60 Amps at 'tick
over' increasing to 100 Amps at 1,800 rev/min.
The BETA CONTROLLER is an integrated battery charging
regulator. The controller provides a three stage charging
system enabling a rapid charge rate for batteries:

Installation
The Beta Controller has been designed for mounting off the
engine, in a location away from vibration, water and
condensation. Ideally, as there is a charge mode LED, the
unit should be positioned so it can be seen.
All goods are offered and supplied in accordance with our
'General Terms of Tender Sale'.

A mode the first stage is a boost charge, when operating the
LED shows red.
B mode the second stage is where the voltage is at a high
level and the current is between 10% and 95% of the
nominal alternator current, the LED shows orange.
C mode the third and last stage is intended for maintenance
of battery voltage only. When the alternator current drops to a
low level for longer than 2 minutes, the regulating mode is
changed from B to C.
The controller automatically adjusts the charge mode to suit
the load and is set for conventional lead-acid batteries as
standard during production. It can easily be re-set for deep
cycle or gel batteries.
