Disassembly (Fig. 1)
1. Park machine on a level surface, lower cutting
decks, stop engine, apply parking brake and remove
key from the ignition switch.
2. Remove steering tower covers to access steering
tower components (Fig. 2).
3. Disassemble steering tower as needed using Figure
1 as a guide.
Assembly (Fig. 1)
1. Assemble steering tower using Figures 1 and 2 as
guides.
A. If steering column (item 17) was removed, torque
cap screws (item 18) that secure steering column to
frame bracket from 27 to 33 ft- -lb (37 to 44 N- -m).
B. Thrust washer(s) (item 10 in Fig. 1) on steering
column are used as needed to remove end play of
steering shaft.
C. If steering wheel was removed, torque hex nut
that secures steering wheel from 20 to 26 ft- -lb (28
to 35 N- -m).
