PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

The analyzer design eliminates the need for extensive and complex maintenance. Where preventive
maintenance procedures require specific time frames or intervals, you should maintain an inspection
log and inspection data. Figure 5-1 lists inspection routines, with recommended time intervals for
each routine. In addition, you should verify analyzer calibration periodically to ensure operating
efficiency.
To aid in preventive maintenance, keep system chromatograms for reference and compare them to
current data to ensure early detection of a problem, whether in the analyzer or in the analysis itself.
It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that all maintenance personnel assigned to work on
analyzers are trained and experienced in instrumentation maintenance and hazardous area

maintenance.

Gas Cylinder Replacement

When you use two cylinders to supply a gas, connect the cylinders in an automatic switchover
configuration to ensure continuous flow to the analyzer when you replace an exhausted cylinder. In
this configuration, the second cylinder switches in automatically when the first cylinder is exhausted

SECTION 5. MAINTENANCE
1.
Perform a visual inspection of the analyzer and check for:
a.
Damaged or inoperative gauges or meters
b.
Loose control knobs
c.
Loose hardware
d.
Low pressure or flow indicators
e.
Equipment grounding connections
f.
Unsecured or loose cables
2.
Check physical condition of analyzer for corrosion, rust,
etc. Take corrective action as necessary.
3.
Using the Data Package supplied with the analyzer, verify
all flow and pressure settings are as specified. Adjust as
necessary. Monitor gas usage to help detect leaks in
utility gas delivery systems.
4.
Check to ensure cylinder gas pressures are above 100
psig. Replace cylinders as necessary.
5.
Check sampling system as applicable (i.e., pressures and
flows).
Check air supply filters.
Check carrier line dryers; change as necessary to prevent
pressure drop. Calibrate and compare resultant chromatograms
with those in Data Package.
