After you press Enter, the printer prints out an adjustment pattern
like the following sample:

5.2.6.2 Understanding the Bi-D Adjustment Pattern
When you look at the Bi-D adjustment pattern, note the following:

As shown in
Figure
5-31, the printer generates a set of three
adjustment patterns for each of the following driver-controlled dot
types:
T
Variable 1 mode
T
Variable 2 mode
T
Normal Dot mode
You have to make sure that the Bi-D setting is correct for each of
these modes.
Y
The middle row in each set corresponds to the mode's current Bi-D
setting. If the lines are vertically aligned (not broken or staggered),
you do not have to adjust the Bi-D setting for this mode. Note that
the value of the current setting always appears as zero.
Y
The bottom and top rows in each set show what happens if you shift
the Bi-D setting by +2 or -2 from the current setting.
