3.1.3 Checking for Other Hardware Problems

Refer to this section only if you could not solve the problem in
3.1.1 or Section 3.1.2. Use this section if:
T
you suspect a problem with one of the motors or motor drivers
T
you get an Ink Out error after installing new ink cartridges
Identify your problem in the table below, and then follow the link as
indicated.

Problem
The cooling fan never runs.
• Note that it is normal for the cooling fan not to
run all the time. See "Cooling Fan Driver
Circuit" on page 58.
• Check the fan by trying to turn it on from the
adjustment program. See "Fan Check"
page 149.
CR motor doesn't work.
PF motor doesn't work.
Pump/ASF motor doesn't work.
ASF solenoid doesn't operate.
Ink Out Error occurs after you replace the
printhead.
NOTE: In the following tables, if you answer "Yes" to a question listed
under "Problem," take the action described to the right under
"Solution." If "No," proceed to the next step.

Table 3-21. Cooling Fan Does Not Run
Step Problem
1 Is the fuse (F6) Place the meter's probes on both terminals of the chip
open? fuse (F6) on the C265 Main board. Then check for
electrical continuity. F6 is located beside Q7 which is
in front of the cooling fan connector (CN13).
2 Is transistor Q7 Q7 is beside connector CN13 for the cooling fan. Since
defective? the three terminals for the base, emitter, and collector
are not marked, follow the diagrams below to check for
electrical continuity. Be sure to test with the correct
polarity. You should get the results shown under the
figures below.
Step 1: On, Step 2: Off, Step 3: On, Step 4: Off
3 Is the internal coil Replace the fan unit and then check its operation.

4 Is the C265 Main If you have not yet isolated the cause, replace the
