Step 3: Tuning Your TV To Your VCR

Television
Connect the VCR to the mains power supply.
The VCRdisplay lights up. The character displayed
should be "— —:— —". If it shows any other characters
or digits, press the OPERATEbutton once,to bring
up the "—--—".
Note:
The VCR is now in standby mode.
Switch
on
your
TV
and
select
an
unused
programme number.
i.e. one not used for BBC1,
ITV, etc. (Please consult your TV instruction manual
as your TV may have a special VCR programme
number which must be used.)
Note: This programme number will be your VCR
programmefrom now on.
Press the PLAY/STILL button (Note: The VCRis
still in standby mode and "¢F ,,4°5" appears as
shownin the display).
Note: Ifthe VCR display "*F ,,_ ", press the
STOP button on the VCR or on the remote control.
The RF channel data will appear on the VCR
display. Press the PROG A / ¥ button to change
the RF channel to "FF .,4'5". To stop the RF
output, press the STOP button on the VCR or on
the remote control again.
Tune your TV (consult your TV instruction manual)
until the test pattern shown appears.
The correct tuning position is when the picture is
clear. Ensure this programme is stored in your TV.
Press the PLAY/STILL button again,the test pattern
will disappear and the VCR will now come out of
the standby mode into the operate mode.
Safety Tab
You should now beable to playback a prerecorded
cassette.
Insert the cassette as shown. If the safety tab is
removed then playback will start immediately. If not
press the PLAY/STILL button and the picture will
appear on the screen.
IMPORTANT:
Insert the cassette into the VCR. Push the cassette until the machine carries the cassette in itself.
Never force the cassette in as this may damage the mechanism.
