FRONT GEARCASE REMOVAL / INSTALLATION

FRONT GEARCASE REMOVAL

1. Stop engine and place gear selector in Park.
Serious injury may result if machine tips or falls. Be
sure machine is secure before beginning this service
procedure. Always wear eye protection.
2. Remove both front drive shafts from the front
gearcase. See Removal page 8.14.
3. Remove the front propshaft from the front gearcase
input shaft. See Removal page 8.16.
4. Disconnect the front gearcase wiring harness.
5. Remove and discard the (2) washers
from each tie rod end on each steering idler.
6. Remove (4) bolts securing the front gearcase to
frame. Then remove the vent line.
7. Lay the gearcase on its side and rotate it in the frame
so the input shaft is facing you.
8. Remove the gearcase from the front RH wheel well
area and carefully slide it between the upper and
lower A-arms.
