1.4 Installation of the inverter
Inverter placement
FR-E820-0175(3.7K) or lower
FR-E840-0016(0.4K) to 0170(7.5K)
FR-E820S-0008(0.1K) to 0110(2.2K)

Comb-shaped wiring cover
l Remove the front cover (or the lower front cover) and wiring cover to fix the inverter.
l Install the inverter on a strong surface securely with screws.
l Leave enough clearances and take cooling measures.
l Avoid places where the inverter is subjected to direct sunlight, high temperature and high humidity.
l Install the inverter on a nonflammable wall surface.
l When encasing multiple inverters in an enclosure, install them in parallel as a cooling measure.
Installation orientation of the inverter
Install the inverter on a wall as specified. Do not mount it horizontally or in any other way.
l Above the inverter
Heat is blown up from inside the inverter by the small fan built in the unit. Any equipment placed above the inverter
should be heat resistant.
l Arrangement of multiple inverters
When multiple inverters are placed in the same enclosure, generally arrange them horizontally as shown in the figure
(a). When it is inevitable to arrange them vertically to minimize space, take such measures as to provide guides
between the inverters since heat generated in the inverters in bottom row can increase the temperatures in the inverters
in top row, causing inverter failures.
1.5 Environment
Before installation, check that the environment meets following specifications:
Surrounding air
temperature
Ambient humidity
Storage temperature
Atmosphere
Altitude
Vibration
*1
Temperature applicable for a short time, for example, in transit.
*2
For installation at an altitude above 1000 m, consider a 3% reduction in the rated current per 500 m increase in altitude.
FR-E820-0240(5.5K) or higher
FR-E840-0230(11K) or higher
Front cover
(lower side)
-20°C to +60°C (The rated current must be reduced at a
temperature above 50°C.)
With circuit board coating (conforming to class 3C2 in IEC 60721-3-3): 95% RH or less (non-condensing)
Without circuit board coating: 90% RH or less (non-condensing)
*1
–40°C to +70°C
Indoors (free from corrosive gas, flammable gas, oil mist, dust and dirt)
*2
Maximum 3000 m
5.9m/s² or less at 10 to 55 Hz (in either X, Y, or Z direction)
