OPERATION AS AN OSCILLOSCOPE

[1]

NORMAL SWEEP'DISPLAY OPERATION

1. T u r n the P O W E R switch ( T ) clockwise — the power
supply will be turned on and the pilot lamp will light.
Set these modes as follows:
Vertical M O D E @
T R I G G E R I N G M O D E @
D I S P L A Y M O D E @
2. The trace should appear in the center of the C R T dis-
play.
If not, center it with
adjust the I N T E N S I T Y © a n d , if necessary, the F O C U S
(1T)for ease of observation.
3. Apply an input signal to channel C H 1 I N P U T j a c k @
and adjust V O L T S / D I V @ f o r a suitable size display of
the waveform.
When M O D E switch @
signal is applied to C H 2 I N P U T @
signal for C H 2 is displayed on the screen through opera-
tions similar to C H 1 .
When M O D E @ ) is set to A D D , the screen displays the
waveform representing the algebraic sum of C H 1 + C H 2 .
If C H 2 I N V (2?) is then pressed, the display changes to

The sensitivity will be the value of V O L T S / D I V setting
if both channels are set to the same V O L T S / D I V setting.
When M O D E (20) is set to D U A L or A L T , the sweep
alternates between C H 1 and C H 2 .
4. If the waveform to be displayed cannot be triggered or
the trigger point is to be shifted, follow the triggering
instructions given below.
T R I G G E R I N G
For the waveform of input signal to be observed, it must be
held stationary by properly triggering the sweep circuit.
Trigger may be internal where the circuit is triggered by the
input waveform to be observed, or it may be external
where a signal having a certain time-relationship with the
input signal is applied to the external trigger terminal.
(1) T h e selection of a signal that serves as the trigger
signal is made using the S O U R C E selector. In obser-
vation of some waveform, the
high-frequency component such as noise may not be
required as the trigger signal. Therefore, the C O U P L -
ING control should be adjusted to the specific pur-
poses.
