SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS (Continued)
⚫ A recovery DVD contains an image file created for the hardware
configuration at the factory shipment. If the hardware configuration has
changed from the one at the factory, the OS may not start after restoration
work. Remove all external storage devices to resume the hardware
configuration at the factory shipment before you perform restoration work
using a recovery DVD.
When a recovery DVD is used, all data in the system drive is deleted. Back
up the data beforehand as required.
⚫ Although this Equipment featuring RAID1 is more reliable than general
systems, it is still prone to the loss of data in the drives. Not only a
machine failure but also an unexpected power failure or an operation
error may cause data to be lost for good. To prevent such loss of data,
implement scheduled data backup in daily operation. Also, protect the
power source from undesirable interruptions by such means as UPS.
⚫ This Equipment is evaluated based on the specific drive models authorized by
the Manufacturer. Replace only with specific drive models authorized by the
Manufacturer. Otherwise, the existing data in the drive may be lost.
Also, always observe the recommended replacement interval for drives (Refer to
"APPENDIX HANDLING REPLACEABLE COMPONENTS").
⚫ Since each Equipment has its own RAID1 configuration information (e.g., serial
number), you cannot swap drives even between two units of this Equipment.
Failure to heed this instruction might result in unexpected operation because of a
problem such as inconsistent configuration information. If you own multiple units
of this Equipment, manage use and inventory of drives so that they are not
inadvertently mixed.
⚫ Do not use a used drive as a replacement drive, regardless of the model. Failure to
heed this instruction might result in the equipment not operating normally or data in
the drive being lost due to inconsistent configuration information.
⚫ Use a new drive (unused drive) or an initialized drive as a replacement drive
⚫ Maintenance of a RAID1 system requires a high level of expertise. Should any
mistakes be made during the work, the data stored on the drives may be lost.
⚫ The drives in drive bay 1 and drive bay 2 must have the same capacity. Do not
install drives with different capacities.
