s-video
Short for super-video, a technology for transmitting video signals over a
cable by dividing the video information into two separate signals: one for
color, and the other for brightness. When sent to a television, s-video
produces sharper images and superior color definition.

TFT
Thin Film Transistor. A type of NEC Versa LCD color screen that supports
256 colors.
U
USB
Universal Serial Bus. This new external bus standard supports the
connection of up to 127 peripheral devices, such as mice, modems, and
keyboards. USB supports plug-and-play installation on some systems.
V
VersaGlide
A small, touch-sensitive pad used as a pointing device on your NEC Versa
notebook computer. With the VersaGlide, you can move your finger along
the pad to move the cursor or simulate a mouse click by tapping the pad.
VGA
Video Graphics Array. Graphics technology that supports up to 256 colors
and a graphics resolution of 640 by 480 pixels.
volatile memory
Storage media that loses its data when system power is turned off. Standard
memory and memory that you add to the Versa are volatile memory. See
nonvolatile memory.
