Connecting the Management Module Cable

Simple Management Module Cable Connection Steps

1. Connect the RJ45 connector of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of the Switch's management module
(DGS-6600-CM and DGS-6600-CM-II) and insert the other end to the LAN access equipment that your PC/
Notebook or control terminal has access to.
2. Connect the standard DB9 end of the serial cable to the RS-232 serial port of the Switch's management
module and the other end to the serial port of either a Serial Port Switch (that your PC/Notebook or control
terminal can access) or directly to your PC/Notebook or control terminal.
NOTE: The DGS-6600 must have a management module installed to operate.

Removing Line Cards from the DGS-6600 Series Switch

Carry out the following steps to remove boards from the DGS-6600 series switch:
1. Please save current configuration.
2. Unplug all copper/fiber cabling, i.e. RJ45 twisted-pair and fiber optic cables, from the board that you want to
remove.
3. Un-tighten the panel's two captive screws.
4. Use both hands to pull the levers on the left and right hand side of the board to remove the board from the
DGS-6600 Series Switch, as shown in Figure 2-7
CAUTION:
1. Before removing/adding a board, always wear an anti-static wrist strap.
2. Take care not to hold the edge of the PCB or collide the components of the PCB.
