Master DVD Creator for Windows Vista
Overview
Master DVD Creator allows you to transfer your computer's recovery data to a set of Master DVDs,
depending on your configuration. These discs will then be required if you need to restore a program or
your entire computer.
Using Master DVDs, the Recovery Process can take up to an hour and a half and CANNOT
RESTORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA AND SETTINGS.
Some computers are provided with Master DVDs instead of the recovery data on the computer hard
disk drive. In this case, the Master DVD Creator Program is not required.
No separate copies of the Windows discs and Microsoft utilities are provided. All the programs are
included in your Master DVDs, or hidden partition.
To use the Master DVD Creator, you need a DVD writer. If your computer was not originally equipped
with a DVD writer and you add one later, you can choose to install Master DVD Creator. To do so, use
SmartRestore to install both Master DVD Creator and the DVD writing software provided by NEC.
Before You Use This Program
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY:
Caution:
The Master DVD that you create will only contain the software that was originally on
the hard disk of your computer when it left the factory. Your personal files and other software that
you have installed will NOT be copied onto these Master DVDs.
To create Master DVDs, you will need:
Up to 3 blank recordable DVDs.
The DVD writing software that was pre-installed on your computer by NEC.
A permanent marker to label your DVDs. DO NOT USE STICKERS ON THE OPTICAL DISCS
FACES.
Other recommendations:
Connect the AC adapter to your notebook computer (if applicable).
Do not shut down the computer nor run any other programs during the whole process.
Make sure that your screen saver and energy saving mode are deactivated.
Note:
Should a power failure occur while you are creating your Master DVDs, please restart
Master DVD Creator as soon as possible. Master DVD Creator will automatically check that your
restoration files function correctly. The backup partition located on your hard disk will not be
deleted if the Master DVD creation process is not successfully completed.
