7. Before mounting the friction wheel assembly, install
the chains onto the 8-tooth sprockets making sure
the closed end of the master link is going in the
direction of rotation in the forward gears.
8. Install both bearing retainers.

9. Before installing the axle with the 44-tooth sprockets,
apply a light coat of anti-seize to the outer 5" (12 cm)
of both ends of the axle shaft. Also apply a light coat
to the inside diameter at both ends of the tube about
4" (10 cm).

10. Make sure the axle bearing end that is holding the
axle shaft is on the bottom.
