Digital answering system (only for SFX-210)
The SFX-21 O has a built-in digital answering system that records both your greeting and
callers' voice messages on an IC chip. The maximum recording time for both is 14 minutes
in total.
Recording your greeting
You must record your greeting before you can use the built-in answering system.
1. Press [RECORD]
for one second.

2. State your greeting message to the microphone.
The maximum recording time for greeting is
RECORDING
3 minutes.
For the best sound quality, speak about
35 to 50 cm away from the microphone.
If the location is noisy, come closer to the
microphone.
3. Press [RECORD]
again to finish recording.
The recorded greeting is played back for
PLAYING
GREETING
your confirmation.
. To interrupt recording, press [STOP].
If the recording time exceeds 3 minutes, 5 short beeps sound and no recording is made.
Restart from step 1.
No greeting can be recorded while the fax telephone or the extension telephone
connected to the unit through the line plug is in use.
If a call comes in while you are recording, the recording will be canceled.
Setting the answer mode
1. Press [ANSWER]
to turn the ANSWER reception
mode on.
The ANSWER lamp lights and your greeting
plays once.

To turn off the ANSWER mode, press [ANSWER] again. The ANSWER lamp turns off.
If the backup battery is exhausted or not installed, the answering system takes about 36
seconds to start functioning properly after the SFX-21 O is powered.
The ANSWER mode overrides AUTO/MANUAL
mode setting.
