VIPedge Application Services

VIPedge Application Services allow premise based IPedge® systems to take advantage of unified
messaging and unified communications applications and survivability in the cloud. IPedge
systems can use cloud based voicemail so that even if their WAN connection is down, calls can
still be answered by voicemail and follow their users to their call manager mobile clients on their
cell phones. The VIPedge Application Services are supported using IPedge software version 1.6
point release 1 with GCP 1.6.0-5 or later.

SIP Trunks, Voicemail and Call Manager in the cloud

The VIPedge Application Service can be used with a premise based IPedge system to provide
cloud based Messaging, Call Manager and UCedge client features. The IPedge system is
connected to the Internet behind a router, and it is networked to the VIPedge Application Service
using IPedge Net, creating a two-node network. Connected they operate as an integral system, but
when separated by a WAN failure each is able operate and act for the business independently
answering calls in the cloud and allowing station to station dialing on the premise. The VIPedge
Application Service is connected by SIP Trunks to the PSTN.
Smart Phones
VIPedge Application Services offer the following features:
• Messaging – Calls that are not answered by the phone on premise are answered by VIPedge
messaging in the cloud. A message can be taken and retrieved by phone, or it can be sent by
email. The message waiting indicator on the on-premise phone can let you know when you
have a message. Calls can be routed with the follow-me feature to a cell phone or call manager
mobile client.
• Call Manager – The IPedge system on the premise can be configured to use the Call Manager
in the Cloud. This allows call manager mobile for Android and iOS smartphones with presence
and instant messaging to be used to provide reachability anywhere (there's wireless access).
• Survivability – If the WAN connection goes down, the station to station to calling is still
available on the premise. In the cloud, incoming calls will be answered and they can go to
voicemail or to the user's cell phone or call manager mobile client using Follow-Me.
