This section contains the hardware description and technical
specifications of the CPU 928.
Details on programming the CPU 928 can be found in the CPU 928
Programming Guide.
You can use the CPU 928 in single and multiprocessor operation in
the S5-135U/155U central controller (see Chapter 6). Up to four CPUs
can be used.
The CPU 928 is universally applicable, ensuring both very fast bit
processing (optimized for open-loop tasks) and word processing
(optimized for closed-loop tasks).
The following program processing levels are possible:
• • Cyclical
• • Time-controlled (9 different timebases)
• • Interrupt-driven (hardware interrupt)
The programming language is STEP 5.
The CPU 928 comprises two PCBs (PCB 1 and PCB 2) in the double
Eurocard format, in a sandwich assembly. The two PCBs have plug-in
interconnections and are bolted together as a unit when delivered.
PCB 2 serves as the basic board which provides the connection to the
S5 bus via two backplane connectors.
The front plate width is 2 2/3 standard plug-in stations.
