Wiring procedure
The following shows the procedure for wiring an RS-232 connector.
■Connection of an RS-232 connection cable
1.
While paying attention to the connector orientation, insert the RS-232 connection cable into the RS-232 connector.
2.
Tighten the connector screws.
• Connector fitting screws (#4-40UNC): tightening torque range 0.15 to 0.20 Nm
■Removal of an RS-232 connection cable
1.
Loosen the connector screws.
2.
Pull out the RS-232 connection cable.
Precautions
• When not connecting a RS-232 cable, use the attached cover to prevent ingress of dust and dirt.
• Use a single point ground for RS-232 cable shielding.
• Please check specifications of connected devices as to connection methods for peripheral devices.
• Do not short the RS-232 connection cable FG signal and SG signal. If the FG signal and SG signal are connected within
peripheral devices, then do not connect the FG signal in the product.
• When connecting devices to the product, it is recommended that the same power supply be used.
• If the power plug of the device to connect is a three-pin, or has an earth cable in either the plug or on the device itself, then
ensure that a plug incorporating an earth is used, or that a class D type grounding (3rd class grounding) be used.
• When connecting AC-powered devices that do not have an earth wire, install using the following procedure.
1: Check that the power supply plug of the connected device is removed from the AC socket.
2: Using an RS-232 connection cable, connect the device to this product.
3: Insert the power supply plug of the connected device into the AC socket.
