Caution
The electronic components of the printed circuit boards are highly sensitive to
electrostatic discharge. Certain precautionary measures are therefore necessary
when handling such components. These measures are explained in the guidelines
for handling electrostatically-sensitive devices in Appendix A.
Installing memory submodules
To plug in expansion submodules, proceed as follows:
1. Switch off the device.
Caution
Do not install a memory module while the PG is switched on. You might damage
the PG as well as the memory module.
2. Remove all cables connected to the device, including the power adapter.
3. Close the display unit.
4. Place the PG onto a soft mat with the display unit facing down.
5. Remove the battery.
6. Remove the four retaining screws of the cover above the memory expansion
slot.
7. Remove the cover.
8. Plug the module into the slot. Note the recess (reversal protection) on the plug
side of the SO DIMM module.
9. Push the module down by applying light pressure until it locks into place.
10.Reinsert the battery.
11. Replace the cover and secure it with the four screws.
Caution
Make sure that the modules are seated securely in the slots, otherwise they can
drop out and be damaged.
The memory configuration is detected automatically. When you switch on the unit,
the distribution of "System and Extended Memory" is displayed on-screen.
