8.2.7.5 Extending the dialling numbers to 40 digits
The dialling numbers may be up to 40 digits long. Using the internal memory (e.g. "ME" phonebook), the numbers are
stored "at once". Using the phonebooks of the SIM card (e.g. "SM" phonebook) only the first 20 digits are stored. The
remaining digits are stored to the SIM extension files EF
is defined through the configuration of the SIM card. Normally there are only few entries in these files (about 5). If the
extension file is full, no more entries longer 20 digits can be written to the SIM phonebooks.

The "MT" phonebook is the combination of "SM" and "ME" phonebook. The usage of the corresponding extension file
depends on the selected phonebook ("SM" or "ME").
No new commands were added to support the number extension. The AT commands for querying (AT+CPBR=?,
AT+CPBW=?,...) respond in two different ways. For the phonebooks of the M20 (e.g. "ME") the result code shows the
correct number of 40 digits. For the phonebooks on the SIM card the result code is 20, because there only a few entries
with 40 digits. The maximum number of entries on the SIM card cannot be determined directly. The exact number can be
determined with the
