Display on LCD
The density values obtained from the density step
measurement results are displayed immediately
after you print the quality control pattern.
Quality Control Pattern
Enter the density values displayed on the LCD.
3.
Enter the following values of the printed quality
control pattern in the Basis fields in the printing
density check chart (Quality Control Chart at the end).
These values will be the basis values for printing
density.
• Average value for density step 5
• Average value for density step 3
• Average value for density step 2 - density step 4

Check Procedure
1.
Print the quality control pattern (page 51). After
printing is completed, enter the print density values
displayed on the LCD of the printer on the quality
control pattern.
Note
The density values displayed on the LCD of the
printer may differ from values obtained from
commercially available density meters. When
checking the printing density, use the density values
displayed on the LCD of the printer.
2.
Based on the density values you entered on the quality
control pattern, enter the following values in the
printing density check chart.
• Density step 5 (Dmin)
• Density step 3 (MD)
• Density step 2 - density step 4 (DD)
3.
Check whether or not the differences between the
density values you entered in the printing density
check chart and the density basis values fall within the
density tolerance ranges shown below.
Density Value
Density step 5 (Dmin)
Density step 3 (MD)
Density steps 2 - 4 (DD)
Check Points
s Does the difference between the density value of
density step 5 (Dmin) and basis value fall within
the density tolerance range?
s Does the difference between the density value of
density step 3 (MD) and basis value fall within the
density tolerance range?
s Does the difference between the density value of
density steps 2 - 4 (DD) and basis value fall within
the density tolerance range?
Measures
If the density values are out of the density tolerance ranges,
implement the corrective measures below in the following
order.
1.
Check whether or not there are artifacts in density
steps 1 to 5. Implement the measures described in
"Measures" of "Artifact Check" in the order of 1 then
2. If there is no improvement, proceed to the
following corrective measure.
2.
Perform automatic calibration of the printing density
as described in "Calibrating the Printing Density"
(page 32). After calibration is completed, print the
quality control pattern again and then check the
printing density.
3.
If there is still no improvement after performing 2
above, replace the film with new film, perform
automatic calibration of the printing density as
described in "Calibrating the Printing Density"
(page 32), and then reconfigure the density basis
settings as described in "Basis Density Settings"
(page 52). After that, print the quality control pattern
again, and then check the printing density.
