3. Precautions on Wiring
WARNING
Mandatory
Be sure to switch power off before connecting
cables. Otherwise, it could cause accidents
due to electric shock and module failure.
CAUTION
Mandatory
Connect an external power supply that meets
the power specifications. Connecting a
different external power supply could cause an
explosion or a wire.
Mandatory
Cabling must be done by qualified
personnel. The wrong cabling can cause
fire, module trouble or electric shock.
Mandatory
Ask a qualified service agent for DeviceNet
cabling because it requires safety and anti-
noise measures.
For the specifications of the installation
procedures, refer to DeviceNet Volume I.
iv
Mandatory
For module wiring, use sheathed crimp
terminals or cover the terminals with tape so
the conductors will not be exposed.
Handle the terminal board cover with care not
to let it drop or be damaged. After wiring the
module, place the terminal board cover
securely over the terminal board. An exposed
conductor is dangerous because it causes
electric shock.
Forbidden
1. Do not connect the DeviceNet cables to, or
disconnect them from, network connectors
while the network is in operation.
The wrong connection or a network
shortcircuit, for example, may disable
communication with other nodes.

disconnect it from, a device connector on
the front panel of the DN611 while the S
controller power is on.}

trouble or malfunction.
3. Network connectors cannot be connected
to, or disconnected from, device connectors
in the wrong direction for reasons of their
structure. Do not try to forcibly push them
in.
Otherwise, the network connectors and
device connectors will be damaged.
4. Install the cables, exercise care not to
pulling them too tight or bending them.
Do not place heavy objects on the cables.
This is important to prevent the cables from
breaking.
