Use of Internal hard disk drives in the RAID System

This section describes how to use the hard disk drives installed in the HDD cage at the front of the server in the
RAID System.

1.18.1 Connecting cables

Connect cables to 2.5-inch HDD cage by referring to the illustration below.

 If you use hard disk drives in the RAID System or change the RAID level,
Important
initialize the hard disk drives. If the hard disk drive contains valuable data,
be sure to backup the hard disk drive before installing the RAID Controller
and configuring the RAID System.
 If both PCI #1 and PCI #2 slots contain RAID controller, OS is installed in
hard disk drive connected to RAID Controller in PCI #2 slot. Use the hard
disk drive connected with RAID controller in PCI slot #1 for storing data.
Note
In the RAID System, use hard disk drives that have the same specifications
(capacity, rotational speed, and standard) for each Disk Array.
 Logical Drives can be created even with only one Physical Device.
Tips
 When using SAS hard disk drives, RAID Controllers must be connected.
