STATUS MESSAGING

General Dispatch
Definition:
Transmits a Pre-Defined (Dealer Programmable) Status Message to a specific radio or
group of radios.
Usage:
Rather than tying up a radio system with voice communications, a simple dispatch
message will help make all users more efficient.
Application:
A plumbing company dispatcher wants to send a pre-programmed status message to one
unit in a fleet. The dispatcher selects the alpha tag associated with a unit in a fleet and
then selects Status No.10 ("CALL OFFICE"). When the dispatcher presses PTT, the
message "CALL OFFICE" is sent and appears on the mobile radio's LCD. After receipt
of a positive acknowledgement , a "COMPLETE" message appears on the mobile base
LCD, as shown in Figure 6.
