LONG TEXT MESSAGING

Definition:
A 1024 Character Alphanumeric message can be sent to a radio when both the sending
and receiving radios are connected to a PC or MDT unit.
Usage:
Names/Phone Numbers/Addresses etc., can be sent to a radio without tying up valuable
airtime.
Application:
A plumbing company dispatcher sends a Long Text message with detailed customer job
and location information to one of their service trucks, as shown in Figure 10.
NOTE:
An 80-Series Kenwood radio is limited to sending and receiving a maximum of one (1) Long
Text Message of up to 1,024 alphanumeric characters in length. FleetSync-compatible dispatch
software and mobile data devices are required to send and/or receive and store more than one
Long Text Message.
