Install the left hydraulic-unit shroud
Checking the Spark Plug
Important:
Replace the spark plug(s) when it
has: a black coating, worn electrodes, an oily film,
cracks or reuse is questionable.
If you see light brown or gray on the insulator, the
engine is operating properly. A black coating on the
insulator usually means that the air cleaner is dirty.
Set the gap to 0.76 mm (0.030 inches).

Tighten the spark plug(s) to 24.4 to 29.8 N-m (18 to
22 ft-lb).

Arrester
For Models with a Spark Arrester
Service Interval: Every 50 hours
WARNING
Hot exhaust system components may ignite
fuel vapors even after you shut off the engine.
Hot particles exhausted during engine
operation may ignite flammable materials.
Fire may result in personal injury or property
damage.
Do not fuel or run the engine unless a spark
arrester is installed.
1.
Shut off the engine, wait for all moving parts to
stop, remove the key, and engage the parking

brake.
2.
Wait for the muffler to cool.
3.
If there are any breaks in the screen or welds
are observed, replace the arrester.
4.
If the screen is plugged, remove the arrester
and shake loose particles out of the arrester,
and clean the screen with a wire brush (soak in
solvent if necessary).
5.
Install the arrester on the exhaust outlet.
