Programming the Radios
It is essential that the radios to be used with the TRICK are programmed correctly using the
appropriate RSS package;
GM300 - use EVN4161 -
GM350 - use EVN4633 -
GM950 - use EVN4037 -
It is recommended that the radios are programmed through the TRICK front socket (J1), using the
PROGRAM button to select the required target device.
Radio programming will vary according to the radio type and the specific application required. The
following section provides guidelines for programming two Motorola GM350 radios for a semi duplex
base station application. The same concepts also apply to programming Motorola GM300 and
GM950 radios.

Radio Programming Example

Two Motorola GM350 128 channel radios are connected to the TRICK. The RX radio is connected to
TRICK port P4, the TX radio is connected to port P1. The resulting base station will be used for
semi-duplex communication between office-based staff using desktop controllers and a mobile
workforce using portable radios.
An eight channel PL system is required.
3.1.1
Procedure
Program the equipment as follows;
RX Radio
1.
Connect the programming cable to the front socket (J1) of the TRICK. Note that the
POWER ON LED starts flashing.

Use the PROGRAM button to select the RX radio as the target device. Note that the
RX LED is lit.
3.
Start the GM350 RSS package and read the radio using the "read radio" option from
the pull-down "file" menu.
4.
Select the "per channel" option from the pull-down "edit" menu and configure the
eight channels with the appropriate frequency, PL and power settings.
5.
Select the "OK" button.
