For converter-specific dry-out procedure, see the circuit diagrams delivered with the converter
and appropriate firmware manual.
Note: Inadequate dry-out creates a risk for component failure and insulation breakthrough
if there still is moisture inside the converter.
ABB reserves right to change the dry-out procedure based on examinations and tests.

Automatic software-controlled dry-out

Some of the latest versions of the ACS880 wind turbine converter variants by ABB are
equipped with automatic software-controlled dry-out procedure, that sends dry-out requests
to turbine PLC automatically. The turbine PLC needs to be pre-programmed to be able to
handle the converter dry-out requests and send heating requests to cooling system heater.
Basic principle of the automatic dry-out procedure is similar to the manual dry-out, but the
converter calculates standstill times and requests dry-out procedure automatically.
Converter/turbine operator does not need to evaluate the need of dry-out procedure.
For converter-specific dry-out procedure, see the circuit diagrams delivered with the converter
and appropriate firmware manual.
