– Product Records and Maintenance.
Type: Champion RC 12YC (or equivalent)
Air Gap: 0.030 inch (0.76 mm)
Note: A spark plug usually lasts a long time; however,
the plug should be removed and checked whenever the
engine malfunctions.
1. Park machine on a level surface, stop engine, en-
gage parking brake, and remove key from the ignition
switch.
2. Raise cargo bed to allow access to engine.
3. Clean area around spark plugs so foreign matter
cannot fall into cylinder when spark plug is removed.
4. Pull spark plug wires off spark plugs and remove
plugs from cylinder head.
IMPORTANT: Replace cracked, fouled, dirty, or mal-
functioning spark plugs. Do not clean plugs. Grit
from the plug may damage the engine.
5. Check condition of side electrode, center electrode,
and center electrode insulator for damage.
6. Set air gap between center and side electrodes at
0.030" (0.76 mm). Install correctly gapped spark plug
and tighten plug to 180 in-lb (20 N–m).
7. Install spark plug wires.
