3. Synchronization

The synchronization checks consistency among logical drives. It is available for redundant logical drives in
the RAID1, RAID5, or RAID10 level.
Similar to the media patrol, routine synchronization can be performed by scheduling.
The synchronization checks consistency and also repairs detected error sectors in the same way as the
media patrol. Accordingly, it can be used as preventive maintenance.
Different from media patrol, the synchronization continues its operation at a certain rate if targeting logical
drives are accessed. Therefore, considerable load may be applied to the system during synchronization to
decrease in the processing rate. In an environment of frequent accesses, preventive maintenance using
synchronization is recommended because media patrol cannot be advanced.
Note the following for the synchronization:
Notice
To perform synchronization, WebPAM must be installed.
For the detailed operation, refer to the online manual "Web-based Promise Array
Manager User's Guide" in the "SATA2 Array Management Software" CD-ROM coming
with the card.
