Troubleshooting

Proceed as Follows
Malfunction
The motor does not run
Vibrations
Running noise
High motor temperature
Motor temperature monitoring unit
responds
Wrong or incorrect temperature dis‐
played
Possible causes for the malfunctioning of 1MB motors can be limited to the
following areas:

Motor cooling circuit and temperature curve
●
Internal temperature sensor
●
Mechanical damage of the motor
●
Mechanical connection to machine
Encoder and temperature sensor are controlled by the controller or the con‐
trol unit; corresponding diagnostic messages are displayed. Observe the in‐
structions in the corresponding documentation.
The following sections describe some failure states with possible causes by
way of example. This list is not exhaustive.
Failure cause
Drive enable is missing
Controller fault
Supply voltage is missing
Brake is not released
Coupling elements or attachments are
poorly balanced
Adjustment of shaft end attachments
(coupling, gearbox, ...) is insufficient
Mounting screws are loose
Foreign bodies within the motor
Bearing is damaged
Operation outside of characteristic data
Heat dissipation is impaired
Temperature sensor not connected
Temperature sensor is defective

In the case of malfunctions or troubleshooting, please observe the
notes in the project planning manual, too. If necessary, the manu‐
facturer must be contacted.

Troubleshooting
Measures
Activate the drive enable
Troubleshooting according to the docu‐
mentation of the controller
Check the supply voltage
Check the brake activation
Re-balance
Re-align the attachments
Lock the screw connections as specified
Stop operation of the motor -> repair by
manufacturer
Stop operation of the motor -> repair by
manufacturer
Reduce the load, check the sizing if nec‐
essary
Clean the motor
Check the coolant circuit of liquid cooling
systems
Connect the temperature sensor
Connect backup temperature sensor
