How to Set the Characteristics of
the External Input
The EXT INPUT connector of the master clock module can be used to start
and stop the system.
1 Open the Parameter Editor for the master clock module (see "How to
Start the Parameter Editor for Global Parameters" on page 85).
The Clock Reference window appears.
2 Click the External Input tab.
The External Input window shows the alternatives:

3 Choose the desired start/stop mode. Options are:
– Immediate:
The timing system is started either manually by the user with a mouse
click or by a software command.
– Gated:
The timing system is armed by pressing the Run icon. The user
interface displays HALTED as long as the system is not started. The
timing system is started or stopped according to the chosen polarity.
The system is stopped, when the sequence terminates. The user
interface displays RUNNING, HALTED, or STOPPED. See also
"Trigger-Controlled Stop" on page 35.
