4-3. CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
1.
GENERAL
This is a new model of a high - grade (Hi8 type) 8 mm
camcorder which has been designed to be both compact
and lightweight.
The features are as follows:
1 ) A CCD (interline type) with 470,000 picture elements is
used to provide high resolution and high sensitivity
(minimum illumination of target: 3 lux).
2) Fuzzy Auto Focus (Fuzzy AF)
In addition to the characteristics provided by the digital
auto focusing system, it has become possible to attain
and determine finer information and picture elements,
and to achieve further accuracy in the auto tracking
system, through the application of fuzzy theory.
3) Fuzzy Auto Iris (Fuzzy AE)
Through the application of fuzzy theory, an auto iris
which is closer to the h uman eyes has been obtained,
and it has become possible to lessen the backlighting
effects in counterlight, so that much more beautiful
pictures can be taken.
Fuzzy Auto White Balance (Fuzzy AWB)

The colour is compensated for more accurately by
applying fuzzy theory to infer the colour condition of the
subject from the colour phase, distribution and amount
of high-frequency component.
5) Hi8 System
By providing a recording band which is wider than
previous 8 mm camcorders, clear reproduction of even
extremely fine areas can be obtained.
Stereo Sound Recording

Two built-in omnidirectional microphones record the
sound with an abundant feeling of ambience.
7) Auto Date
The Auto Date function is constantly powered by a
lithium battery. Once the date is set, it is automatically
incre-mented.
8) High Speed Shutter
Even when a fast-moving subject is recorded, slow or
still pictures do not get blurred. The shutter speed is set
automatically between 1 /250 and 1 /1 0,000 sec. depend­
ing on the brightness (shutter with continuously-variable
speeds).
9) x 1 2 Power Zoom Lens
From a wide shot to a close-up, this lens provides a
1 2: 1 zooming effect.
1 0) Electronic Viewfinder (Black and White)
The electronic viewfinder serves as a built-in black­
and-white monitor during recording and playback and
displays a wide variety of helpful data during recording.
1 1 ) S mooth Editing by Flying Erase Heads
The incorporation of flying erase heads allows smooth
editing of new material in the middle of previous
recordings.
1 2) Linear Time Counter
The tape travel is displayed in hours, minutes and
seconds, allowing you to check the remaining tape time
easily.
1 3) Preset Dial Function
The preset dial can be turned so that filming is carried
out in accordance with the object being filmed and the
filming conditions.
1 4) LCD Colour Monitor Remote Controller
The remote controller can be used as a wired controller
when connected to the camcorder to control the
camcorder and watch the picture being recorded, or to
view the tape playback on the colour monitor.
