6-2. KEY-IN OPERATIONS
The operation mode commands for the deck can also be
input from the remote controller in addition to being done by
the operation keys on the main unit.
6-2-1 . Keys on Main Unit
Key operations are input by means of the main controller
from a 5 x 8 matrix circuit. (Refer to the circuit and block
diagrams.)

6-2-2. Remote Controller
Remote operation is possible by using an infrared remote
controller (I R remote controller). I nput signals (REMOTE)
which are converted into electrical signals at the remote
control photo sensor (CP 1 board) are input to the main
controller. For information regarding the signals received,
refer to the monitor remote controller section.
The data received is decoded at the main controller and the
same processing as for key operation is carried out. With
this unit, both wireless and wired operation of the monitor
remote controller are possible.

6-2-3. LANC Commander
8 mm camcorders are equipped with a LANC (Local
Application Control Bus System) terminal (PW1 board).
By connecting a commander which conforms to the LANC
standard to this terminal, the range of possible editing
functions (editing by means of an external device) can be
extended.
In addition, when the POWER switch is OFF, power cannot
be supplied from the LANC side to the camcorder.
The LANC control IC (TL 1 596) can switch data communi­
cation between an external device and the LANC controller.
